Horses on a Mission: On Faith, Calling, and Belonging by Maureen Gallatin
Softcover, 76 pages
What if the clearest message you've ever received from God came on four legs?
In this warm, wise, and often funny memoir, Maureen Gallatin — lifelong horsewoman, life coach, and founder of Horses on a Mission — reflects on a lifetime of lessons learned in barns, paddocks, and foaling stalls. Through unforgettable animals — a traumatized black gelding named Calvin, a thirty-year-old broodmare named Mistress, a foal born with a cleft palate who became a healing presence for troubled teens, and a string of irrepressible dogs — Maureen discovers that God has a way of sending exactly the right creature at exactly the right moment.
This is not a book about horsemanship, though it is full of it. It's about what happens when you stop striving to have it all together and start paying attention to the wisdom already around you. It's about the difference between living as a driven person and a called one. About knowing when to help and when to step back. About "flipping the script" — seeing what's right in front of you in a completely different way.
With the quiet authority of someone who has spent decades in nonverbal conversation with animals, Maureen writes about belonging, identity, prayer, purpose, and the surprising ways God reaches through creation to say, You matter. Each short chapter reads like a letter from a trusted friend — someone who has stepped in every hole along the trail and isn't afraid to say so.
For horse lovers, faith seekers, and anyone who has ever felt like an outlier: this book is for you.
"After many years of striving, I've learned the relief of not having it all together - and the comfort of knowing the God who does."
