Brand new, has been machine washed and dried but never on a horse.
This lightweight synthetic pad is surprisingly cushiony and the plush material is surprisingly sheepskin-like. Manufacturer doesn't state fabric content beyond "high quality cotton and high-density foam" and there's no tag. The plush part that contacts the horse's back feels like synthetic to me. We do know that it handles machine washing and drying beautifully.
