About the artist:
Mick Cawston specialised in painting animals, particularly dogs but also other wildlife from foxes, deer and native bird life through to horses, hares and badgers. He painted a great many dogs including pointers and spaniels as well as labradors for many private collectors and sportsmen and owes a great body of his work to the painters John Emms and Maude Earl. He was born in Dagenham, Essex and exhibited mainly with the picture dealer Sally Mitchell establishing himself as one of the better wildlife painters of the 20th/21st century, many of his works were published as prints, he tragically died in 2006 at the early age of 46.
